Pre Con, 2004

flour and reconstituted alfalfa

10’ x 2’ x 10’

In pre- before con- after, a pile of flour sits on top of a pile of manure -- two materials in their raw state. Rain turned the flour to dough and when it dried, it formed a hard layer of crust. Ants began to eat this cracker as the manure began to germinate alfalfa. The piece created, in itself, a full cycle.
