Still Water Tea Party, 2016
For Still Water Tea Party, four hydrosols were made from red cedar, white pine and different clays found beneath a walnut tree in Catskill, NY. These aromatic waters went through a distillation process but retain elements specific to the place where they were harvested. Guests tasted the plants and sprayed their faces with the hydrosols. Pinon cookies were served as a food pairing with the hydrosols. Objects made from the clays and plants following the distillation process were passed around the table.
Still Water Tea Party is part of an ongoing multi-sensory project that aims to create personal encounters with the essence of place.
